Moving to Ramsey

Welcome to Ramsey, Minnesota, a community of about 25,000 residents who enjoy the lifestyle this town has to offer. Ramsey is located just minutes to the north of the Twin Cities and it is easily accessible since U.S. Highways 10 and 169 go through it as well as MN State Highway 47. Ramsey is dedicated to providing a happy and convenient lifestyle for its residents and we are certain you will see what we mean once you explore and settle in to your new home.

The Ramsey Police Department is headed up by Chief James Way. He has been with the department since 1985, working his way up from patrol officer over the years. The department currently has 23 licensed officers with an active reserve unit of about 20 volunteers dedicated to keeping the community safe and orderly. One interesting aspect of the Ramsey Police Department is the annual two-day Kids Safety Camp. This event typically involves teaching about 150 second and third graders more about safety and how to prevent becoming a victim in everyday life. The program also teaches kids about water safety, fire prevention and more. Registration is $30 which includes snacks, food, an ice cream social and more. To learn more about the Kids Safety Camp or anything else about the Ramsey Police Department, call the non-emergency number at (763) 427-6812.

The Ramsey community encourages its residents to recycle in order to create a cleaner and better tomorrow. The city has contracted with ACE Solid Waste to pickup recyclables at each resident's curbside for a charge of $2.95 per month billed quarterly. Paper, food and beverage glasses, metal and aluminum cans and plastic containers with a neck are all part of the acceptable recyclables collected. Place your bins to the curb no later than 6:30 a.m. on the scheduled day of pickup. For more information about pickup days in your area or about the recycling program, call Chris Anderson, Environmental Coordinator, at (763) 433-9905.

The Ramsey community has more than 560 acres of park and natural areas for residents to enjoy. Parks are maintained by the Ramsey Parks and Recreation Department as the staff invests more than 20,000 hours on maintenance each year. There are more than 40 parks in Ramsey, including Solstice park at 14700 Erkium Street NW, Titterud Park at 16100 Jaspar Street NW and Trott Brook Park at 6571 171st Lane NW, just to name a few. For more information about park amenities and features, call the Parks Supervisor - Mark Riverblood - at (763) 433-9853.

The Ramsey Happy Days is an annual event for the whole community to enjoy. The event takes place in September and includes events like a Teen Dance with live entertainment, a classic car show, a craft fair and a 5K Fun Run for kids. You can either help sponsor the event or volunteer to make it a success. For more information about helping or attending, call (763) 433-9844.
